The leading provider of vendor-neutral certifications for the world’s technology workforce, the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), announced it will soon begin the process of updating its CompTIA Linux+ certification. With a Job Task Analysis (JTA), scheduled for July, the update process will begin this summer. To evaluate the job roles and tasks for IT professionals who work with open source operating systems, the JTA will bring together subject matter experts in Linux. This information will then be used to update the content of the CompTIA Linux+ certification exam.
Keeping with CompTIA’s practice of continuous and ongoing review of its certification content, the update of CompTIA Linux+ assures that the certification exams address the latest changes in technology and reflect the skills needed by tech workers and required by employers. In many markets and industries, increasing demand for open source solutions and Linux skills is evident. Increasing market demand for CompTIA Linux+ certified professionals is also present; for example, among large global IT service companies that have integrated CompTIA Linux+ into their training and certification programs. In addition, as an option for its information assurance personnel, the United States Navy now recommends CompTIA Linux+.
Navy Network Warfare Comman, Mike Knight, stated: “The U.S. Navy’s Information Assurance Workforce relies on certifications, such as CompTIA Linux+, to meet the Department of Defense 8570.1 strategy for secure Naval Networks.”
