At the Security, e-Government & Services and Financial Applications iAward categories, TrustDefender was chosen as finalist. The iAward winners will be announced at the 2007 iAwards presentation dinner, held in Sydney on May 30, 2007.

Ted Egan, CEO of TrustDefender, stated: "We are absolutely thrilled to be recognised in not one, but three iAwards categories in which we nominated. The prestige with which the iAwards are held across the ICT industry, both nationally and internationally makes this the program to be involved with and the additional credibility and 'stamp of approval' that this adds to our security solution offering is fabulous."

The Australian Bureau of Statistics stated in an Internet Activity report launched in February 2007 that 60% of all Australian households had home internet access. At the end of September 2006, there were 6.65 million active internet subscribers in Australia, comprising 826,000 business and government and 5.83 million household subscribers. The internet is increasingly becoming a part of our everyday life. However, the pervasiveness of this technology has made the internet a important target for illegal activity. Identity fraud costs the Australian community between $2 billion and $3.5 billion each year and globally, online crime is recognised as the fastest growing type of crime - it's even greater than the illicit drug trade.

He added: "Whenever you switch on your computer and engage in transactions which require you to share personal information, you are at the mercy of cyber criminals and identity thieves. TrustDefender is the only security solution in the world which is impenetrable and prevents criminals from accessing and stealing personal information. We feel sure that the iAwards recognition will help us to further extend our TrustDefender supply network around the globe and help stop cyber criminals in their tracks."

Every year, the iAwards program provides ICT innovators with national and international recognition and increased brand awareness for their new, leading edge ICT innovations. There are a total of eighteen categories as part of the program, representative of the markets that ICT directly impacts such as security e-government, industrial applications, media and entertainment, healthcare, financial applications and tourism.
The national iAwards program will be presented by the Australian Information Industry Association, and embraces the entrepreneurial spirit of the Australian ICT industry, promotes the contribution that ICT makes across all sectors of the Australian economy and encourages the industry's continued growth and development.
