ISPs can block fraudulent email with Free service which contains database of senders.

Message Level, LLC, announced today the launch of the A-List, a free service that enables email senders to protect their brands. It uses a database of participating senders to give email providers the certainty needed to block fraudulent email before it reaches end users. The A-List - the "A" is for authentication - works with emails signed using DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM), an open source initiative currently being adopted by the major ISPs and other large email senders.

Senders simply visit www.messagelevel.com and add their domain names to the A-List. Mail box providers can download the free application (or milter) from the Message Level website.

DKIM allows a sender to add a cryptographic signature to email so that a receiver can verify the identity of the signer. DKIM is currently being adopted by the major ISPs and many of the largest email senders. Five of the top ten email senders - eBay, Yahoo, Google, Amazon, and Dell - are now signing emails with DKIM. Approximately 4.5 billion email messages per month is the total email volume of these companies.

A board member of the JP Morgan Communications Council and a former Verisign security expert, Bob Antia, said, "By leveraging DKIM, Message Level makes using the A-List an easy decision for senders and mail box providers who want to protect their brands and block fraudulent email with certainty. Once again, Message Level has developed an efficient way to take control of email."

"The A-List is another way Message Level is working to achieve our overall mission of restoring confidence in email," said Michael McGowan, Message Level CEO. "It enables senders and receivers to block more fraudulent email from reaching end users - protecting senders' brands, saving resources for mail box providers and beginning the process of cleaning up email."
