An internationally accessible VPN Service called "SwissVPN" was launced recently by Monzoon. This service offers the possibility to surf encrypted all the way through (unencrypted) WiFi Hotspots, home and corporate networks, national access etc. to the Monzoon datacentre in Zurich, Switzerland. From there, access to the Internet is provided. Swiss residents can access services from abroad, which are limited to users within Switzerland.
The company is providing Public Wireless LAN Access on a neutral platform. As a user you have the ability to select from one of our many partners: There are three premium partners in the three main columns on the landing page (the first page you see after you start your browser) and other international roaming partners in the menu on the lower right hand side; just pick one from the listing. SwissVPN uses 128-bit MPPE encryption, and the authentication protocol is MS-CHAPv2.
If your router/firewall supports PPTP pass-through, you should have no problems connecting. Many routers/firewalls handle PPTP connections fine even though they do not explicitly advertise PPTP pass-through capability. Your firewall rules must be set up to allow outbound connections to connect.swissvpn.net on TCP port 1723 and IP protocol 47 (GRE). Each SwissVPN account can only be used for one concurrent connection, but you can of course buy additional accounts at any time.
