Law enforcement officials estimate that as many as 50,000 sexual predators are members of www.MySpace.com. Yet, according to research, 62 percent of parents say that they have no website filtering controls installed on their PC. In response to this, Third Gear is introducing Safekeeper, the first all in one anti-predator, spyware, antivirus software package to offer full parental control.
Third Gear engaged New York-based Dragon Rouge to design the logo and packaging for Safekeeper. The agency designed a package that features the clear-cut silhouette of a roof that hovers protectively over a child who is using a laptop. The key message, "Protect Your Family Online" appears across the top, while all of the benefits are listed as bullet points under the Safekeeper name.
"It was essential to convey the sense of safety and security rather than focusing on the threats," said Jonathan Asher, president of Dragon Rouge. "The roof icon embedded in the brandmark is a metaphor for providing protection for one's family and makes a strong visual impact on the shelf."
Beau Phillips, Principal, Third Gear, the producer of Safekeeper, says, "Our goal was to give parents peace of mind. The Safekeeper package design effectively communicates this message, that Safekeeper encompasses all the security tools necessary to keep families secure online."
In addition to being available for purchase online at www.mysafekeeper.com, Safekeeper will be available at more than 5,000 national retailers including Comp USA, Target, Circuit City, Best Buy, Office Max, Office Depot and Wal-Mart.
