Prevx 2.0 for enterprises, small and medium businesses (SMB) and consumers is now available. The company,
Prevx, is a leading provider of "herd intelligence" and "behavior based" security technologies. The new product offers users the possibility to manage IT security from a position of knowledge. Its end-point security agent bring protection against malware attacks while recording the presence, execution and behavior of software on each and every system in an organization.
Big companies spend less than $20 per PC per year for security, but these costs are small compared with lost productivity and business impairment associated with just a single infection, where costs can rise to $250 and often much more, per PC, per day. In most of the cases computer infections have been installed for several hours or days before they are discovered, affecting a large number of users. In these cases CSOs do not have the data or tools to advise management of the extent of the problem. Worse still they are often powerless to fix it as they wait on their security vendor for an antidote. In many cases companies are forced to quarantine affected and suspect PCs, adding to the cost and disruption.
Mel Morris CEO of Prevx, stated: "Prevx 2.0 addresses the most pressing challenges facing the security industry today--enabling businesses to centrally monitor and manage the software running on their company assets. Prevx 2.0 provides more layers of protection than any other agent technology. By using centralized intelligence, we are able to focus research on the threats actually facing our customers."
Morris added: "I'm not sure which is worse for a company's senior executives knowing that their sense of security against threats is false, or realizing that once a piece of malware has been detected they have no idea how long it has been live in their organization. It's like discovering that my workforce has been infiltrated by criminals intent on doing me harm, but not knowing who they are, how long they've been there or what they have been doing since they arrived."
The software incorporates five proprietary and two industry-standard signature technologies, offering the chance to be protected against both unique and common threats. If an agent reveals a program for the first time, it examines the program to determine its potential behavior if it is allowed to run. Only after this data has been assimilated and assessed will the program be allowed to execute. Even then its behavior will be closely monitored and reported for further review by our automated malware research facilities which reveal more than 6,000 new malicious objects every day.
