For a chance to win funding and other support to grow their small businesses into million-dollar enterprises, eight winners out of fifteen were chosed from audience members and judges. Since the campaigns launch in 2006, Make Mine a $Million Business got a tremendous response from women and supporting corporate sponsors across the country. Count Me In’s founder, Nell Merlino credits this support to the leadership created by OPEN to bring in new corporate sponsors. In fact, other sponsors alongside American Express include FedEx Inc., QVC Inc., Intuit Inc., American International Group Inc., (AIG,) and Cisco Systems Inc.
Representing the Information Technology sector, Lynn presented her RenovoData business by offering an elevator pitch and answering questions from a panel of judges. “It was a great experience to participate in such a compelling event here this weekend,” noted the excited RenovoData President. Each winner will get a package of seed money and other mentoring and marketing tools to grow their business. Particularly, winners will receive up to $50,000 in funding from OPEN, equipment from Cisco worth $20,000, a year of mentoring, and professional marketing assistance.
Showcased in Atlanta on June 2nd at the annual NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) conference, the Make Mine a $Million Business contest recognized eight influential women entrepreneurs by providing them a chance to win working capital, mentoring, and marketing opportunities to assist the growth of their small businesses.
