The leading enterprise gateway security company, Secure Computing Corporation, recently announced that it has filed a patent infringement and unfair competition lawsuit against Finjan Software in the U.S. District Court -- District of Minnesota. Secure Computing holds more than 80 patents worldwide.

Secure Computing also announced recently that it has brought patent infringement counterclaims against Finjan in the United States District Court -- District Of Delaware. In its counterclaims, Secure Computing asserts that Finjan's security products, including but not limited to Finjan's Vital Security Internet 1Box(TM), infringe U.S. Patent No. 7,185,361 and Finjan's security products, including but not limited to injan's Vital Security(TM) for Documents (aka Finjan Mirage), infringe U.S. Patent No. 6,357,010. The counterclaims seek, among other things, unspecified monetary damages.

In its complaint, Secure Computing asserts that Finjan's load-balancing security products, including but not limited to Finjan's Vital Security(TM) Load Balancer NG-5300, infringe U.S. Patent No. 7,171,681, and that Finjan is in violation of section 43(a) of the Lanham Act, the Minnesota Deceptive Trade Practices Act, and Minnesota's common law, for unfair competition and false advertising. The complaint seeks, among other things, unspecified monetary damages arising from Finjan's unauthorized use of Secure Computing's patented technology and for Finjan's continued and willful false and/or misleading statements in advertising.
