An enterprise class data scrambling tool created for Oracle Human Resources and Payroll Applications, Silhouette™, is now available for Oracle Payables and Oracle Receivables. Sensitive financial information, such as bank account numbers and credit card data, are now protected by Silhouette™, from unauthorized access in all non-production databases. Internal audits have discovered that once the production data is cloned to create new environments it leaves the company at risk of a security breach. Many corporations' Governance Risk and Compliance programs mandate protection of this confidential data as it helps to adhere to GLBA, PCI, and other data privacy regulations.

Silhouette™ utilizes a unique method to protect sensitive data.  Silhouette™ Using Oracle's metadata and built-in functions, conceals the Payables and Receivables private data. Silhouette™ identifies 50-plus sensitive fields recommended for scrambling in the AP and AR modules. These fields are designated as defaults in the application allowing out of the box scrambling execution. Silhouette™, in addition, is configurable and allows the user to tailor the scramble to the needs of their company without coding.

Silhouette™ can ensure, most importantly, that referential integrity of the data is maintained throughout the application after the scrambling process, and lastly, in order to supply information for future decision making, a summary is provided containing statistics and error reports so users can double check the process.

Formed in July 2005, Minneapolis, MN, Guardian Applications, created Silhouette™ in response to not only the increased occurrence of internal security breaches, but also due to the recent notification legislation in over 39 states.
