Keeping with its tradition of industry-leading innovation, A division of CommScope, Inc., CommScope Enterprise Solutions, has confirmed that its SYSTIMAX(R) GigaSPEED(R) X10D Solution exceeds the latest channel performance requirements for Category 6A cabling. The standards, which received committee approval, were developed and set forth by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The GigaSPEED X10D UTP copper cabling solution has been fully compliant with these channel specifications for more than three years since its launche in December 2004.

Engineers at CommScope Labs created unique proprietary design tools to quantify and predict alien crosstalk in the cabling channel - a phenomenon that could not be detected with traditional testing technology, at the time the SYSTIMAX GigaSPEED X10D Solution was developed. The result was performance testing and qualification in what is now known as the "6-around-1" cable configuration - the "worst-case" installation channel test configurations for alien crosstalk. Tests demonstrating channel performance compliance by the GigaSPEED X10D Solution were witnessed and confirmed in May 2005 by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL), an independent, not-for-profit product safety certification organization.
The Category 6A standard (TIA 568B.2-10) and the amendment to ISO/IEC 11801 that includes the Class EA channel specifications were approved and ratified by the TIA TR-42 and ISO/IEC by country voting on February 8. The standards specify four-pair copper cabling performance up to 500 MHz and add key performance parameters for alien crosstalk that were not characterized in previous drafts.
