A new agreement was signed today between Midwestern Higher Education Compact and Trend Micro, Incorporated. Institutions of the 11-member states recieve a significant discount on Trend Micro's award-winning antivirus and content security software and hardware appliances. This is the first agreement signed between MHEC and an antivirus provider. Trend Micro's full range of antivirus, anti-spam, anti-spyware and content security solutions, which can protect all aspects of an institution's IT network, servers and personal computers can now be purcased with a significant discount beyond Trend Micro's normal academic pricing, and will provide an easier process for purchasing antivirus products.
The Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC) consists of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio and Wisconsin. MHEC sponsors a variety of programs to reduce costs, increase student access to college and inform policymaking through targeted and timely research and analysis. In each of its program initiatives, MHEC has fostered regional cooperation to create new opportunities and benefits for Midwestern higher education. To attribute the success of these programs solely to regional cooperation, however, would ignore several other important parts of the picture. The Compact is statutorily created and governed by a board comprising five commissioners from each member state. Commissioners include legislators, governor's representatives and higher education leaders. MHEC is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and is led by President Larry Isaak.
Larry Isaak stated: "MHEC continues to look for technology opportunities for MHEC institutions. The agreement with Trend Micro is just one more way many institutions will realize cost savings in their states."
