Profiler for NetApp was develpoped by Tek-Tools Software, and provides us with comprehensive support for Network Appliance Storage Systems. The company is a provider of resource management software solutions, and announced the release of advanced reporting and monitoring for NetApp storage systems last days.

The new solution enables a single end-to-end view of the NetApp SAN all the way from the LUNs to the initiators, covering both iSCSI and Fibre Channel SANs in a single report. Covering the NAS, SAN, and backup functions of any NetApp environment, Profiler enhances native tools with added flexibility and in-depth reporting and analysis. Profiler's NetApp module provides device consoles (with drill-down capability), file analysis, automated usage trend reporting, capacity planning, and real time monitoring.

Users can proactively monitor, alert, and act on storage utilization levels to systematically avoid outages and insure data usage policies are within compliance. Further productivity and security is obtained with the addition of Profiler's backup monitoring and reporting, which marries storage data to backup information for a integral view of the IT infrastructure.

Brian Radovich, Product Manager at Tek-Tools, stated: "Storage technologies continue to develop in response to storage needs. Network Appliance has been at the forefront in the trend towards unified storage combining NAS, SAN, and data protection features. In response, we've developed Profiler's NetApp support to provide a full spectrum of monitoring and file analysis features for complex heterogeneous storage/backup environments."

In addition, Ken Barth, President and CEO of Tek-Tools, Inc., said: "We have been observing an increasing trend among our Network Appliance customers using their storage arrays as both NAS and SAN storage. In many cases, some of them being fairly large implementations, customers are using their NetApp storage systems exclusively as SANs. Profiler's ability to provide a single view of both NAS and SAN usage in relation to total usage as well as offer comprehensive trending fills a need among NetApp users not addressed by other vendors."

Profiler for NetApp offers a number of off-the-shelf reports, saving administrators hours each month building reports from scratch. Every report can be easily personalized using a report wizard. From any supported Web browser, operators and administrators can view status or run configuration and performance reports to maximize the efficiency of their investment in Network Appliance systems.
