The BioFoundry® Software Development Kit (SDK) has been selected by Tygart Technology for their flagship product, MatchBox. BioFoundry® is a division of OSS Nokalva and MatchBox, is a digital media intelligence and identification system. MatchBox uses the BioFoundry® SDK for its multi-modal, standards-based, Biometric Services component. The Biometric Services component handles the input and enrollment of physical characteristics such as face, voice and fingerprint, and supports database searches using biometrics.
Douglas J. Kirby, Chief Executive Officer of Tygart Technology, Inc., stated: "The use of the BioFoundry® SDK has not only provided a uniform, standardized interface for all biometric components used by MatchBox, it has also helped us significantly reduce development time, resulting in reduced cost and shorter time to market.
In addition, Bharat Shah, Deputy Director of Biometrics at OSS Nokalva, said: "We are delighted with Tygart's decision to use the BioFoundry® SDK for their product, MatchBox. The use of the BioFoundry® SDK in MatchBox clearly demonstrates its value, flexibility, and ease of integration."
Biometrics is an open-ended set of technologies used to recognize a person based upon physical or behavioral characteristics. Some of the most commonly measured functions are fingerprints, face, hand and finger geometry, iris, signature, and voice.
The new solution is a comprehensive collection of libraries and tools that can be used by developers who want to add biometrics capabilities to their applications or develop Biometric Service Providers compliant with the BioAPI standard. The BioFoundry® SDK brings a uniform programming interface that is biometrics technology and vendor neutral. Ment for rapid application development, the BioFoundry® SDK offers developers the possibility to take advantage of popular programming languages, such as Java, C/C++, .NET languages (C#, Visual Basic, etc.), VBScript and JavaScript.
Biometric methods are used to protect identities, identify individuals, and control physical and logical access. Biometrics is used in many domains - Services, Utilities, Government, Healthcare, Financial, Transportation, and Information Services. Some applications of biometrics include Access Control, Time & Attendance, IT Security & Logon, Identity Management, and Data Storage & Encryption.
Designed for rapid application development, the BioFoundry® SDK allows us to take advantage of popular object oriented programming languages. C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, VBScript, and JavaScript are currently supported. BioFoundry® BioAPI-Java provides Java support. The standards-based, component design of the SDK enables our solution to support any biometric technology – e.g. fingerprint, iris, facial, voice, signature, or keystroke. You can even support non-biometrics technologies such as USB tokens, and smart cards – easing integration with legacy systems.
